Why would these girls do that to my wife?

We were at a Mary Kay banquet on saturday night. It was huge dinner/ awards show, so My wife wore her white knee high stilleto heal boots with a gray sweater dress. She look amazing. However, we were talking to one of her ociates, and my wife was in the middle of telling a story, and her ociate put her hand over my wifes mouth. My wifes eyes got real big and she looked over at me and looked stunned. The lady kept her hand there for about a minute and half while talking to somene else. During the dinner my wife had her mouth coverd again by a different girl, who also kept it there for a minute or two. As we were leaving my wife joked to her friend maybe I should just be gagged next time, lol, I just couldnt shut up tonight, and sure enough her friend jokingly coverd her mouth and said I want to gag you right now. Was this just play or real, Why would the girls do this to her?
