How to get a boy to like me?

I use to see him often but not recently (we don't goto the same school or live nearby and I don't have a cell phone)...but we do the same sport but right now our team is taking a break before next season.. But this seasons banquet is coming up next weekend and he should be there.. He has shown interest in me at practice alot .. like he'll show off a lot to me and he'll just like flirt and stuff but ya ummm how do i get him to positively like me!?!?!
